Spicy Bijou was born from a love of fashion, femininity, confidence and that feeling you get when you put something on and suddenly feel a little more like you.
I’m Ashley, the woman behind Spicy Bijou.
Everything started here in South Africa — made by me & designed by me. From the clothing to the labels, packaging and little details that make each order feel special, I’m proud to be building something local, independently and with a whole lot of love.
But Spicy Bijou is about more than clothes.
It’s about that feeling.
The feeling of dressing up just because you want to. Feeling sexy because you feel sexy. Exploring your femininity. Having fun with your body and your style. Feeling confident enough to take up space and express the parts of yourself that may have been tucked away for a while.
For me, becoming a mum changed a lot. Somewhere along the way, I lost a little of that woman who loved dressing up, feeling sexy and making an effort just for herself. And finding her again reminded me just how important that part of us can be.
Because becoming a mum doesn’t mean becoming less of a woman.
And growing older doesn’t mean we have to become invisible.
Spicy Bijou is my little reminder that we are allowed to have fun with ourselves. We’re allowed to feel sexy. We’re allowed to dress up. We’re allowed to want more. And we’re allowed to celebrate every side of who we are.
I also believe women are better when we lift each other up.
I’ve always loved helping my friends find an outfit that makes them feel amazing, creating pieces for women who want something a little different, and watching someone put something on and suddenly see themselves differently.
That’s the energy I want Spicy Bijou to embody.
Confidence. Femininity. Sexual energy. Playfulness. A little bit of trouble.
Some pieces will be our Spicy Staples — the favourites we plan to bring back again and again.
Others will be Limited Edition — small runs, unique fabrics and designs that may disappear once they’re gone.
And Spicy Bijou won’t always be just clothing. There will be little extras, naughty surprises and things designed to celebrate all the delicious sides of being a woman.
So whether you’re a mum, a single girl, a wife, a girlfriend, a career woman, a party girl, a homebody — or a little bit of everything…
